The Trustees of Discovering Sacred Britain invite you to a Day Seminar at the splendid Gorton Monastery Conference Centre, Manchester, on Thursday 18th March 2010 between 10am and 4pm to launch the Marque of Excellence – a recognised and respected acknowledgement of a Sacred Site or Faith Centre’s achievement of a high degree of Openness, Hospitality and Interpretation.

This National launch follows the development of this work in the North West Region over the last three years.

Supported by English Heritage and the North West Development Agency sixty sites have achieved this Award and many, many more are reaching for it.

Working with the Tourist Boards such Sites become partners in pilgrimage, community cohesion and education. Open Building suggests an Open Mind and an Open Heart. It really helps to achieve this Marque of Excellence.

The conference will be addressed by senior staff of Visit England, English Heritage and will hear from the North West’s Development Officer as to how it has been done and how it can be done.
